A Better Way to Nourish Your Gut
For years, I searched for ways to better support my health. That journey led me to Limosilactobacillus reuteri (formerly Lactobacillus reuteri), a beneficial bacterium that has become the focus of growing scientific research and ultimately inspired Wild & Cultured.
What is L. Reuteri?
L. reuteri is a naturally occurring beneficial bacterium that has lived alongside humans for thousands of years. Research suggests it was once much more common in the human gut than it is today, and scientists continue to study its role in digestive health, immune function, and overall wel-being.
Why Ferment It Into Yogurt?
Fermentation is a time-honored tradition that’s been used for thousands of years to preserve food and enhance its nutritional value. By slowly fermenting yogurt for 36 hours at a carefully controlled temperature, we create an environment where L. reuteri and other live cultures can grow while transforming simple rich ingredients into something rich, creamy, and delicious.
The fermentation process also changes the milk itself. As the live cultures ferment, they consume much of the lactose (milk sugar), create the yogurt’s signature tangy flavor, and produce beneficial compounds that make fermented foods unique.
At Wild & Cultured, we choose traditional 36-hour fermentation because we believe good things take time. Every batch is handcrafter with patience, simple ingredients, and the intention of bringing you a truly nourishing food.

- Whether certain strains of L. reuteri may influence hormone regulation in animal models and limited human studies.
-Connections between the gut microbiome and emotional well-being, including the role certain beneficial bacteria may play.
-Scientists continue to study L. reuteri. While research is promising, it’s still evolving, and no single food should be viewed as a treatment or cure for disease.
